Living your best life

Well Hello friends! Living your best life sounds kind of corny, but I kind of like corny 🙂 In all seriousness though- There are a lot of things that can get us down in life. A lot of things happen that we have ZERO control over. It’s pretty cool though that we can choose how we react or respond to life. So,  if you feel like you are in a rut, or feel like you might not be living life to the fullest maybe some of these tips might be helpful for you, as they sure have in my life!!

Get a Good Night’s sleep~

I used to be a horrible sleeper. Through giving myself a bedtime routine, my sleeping has drastically improved. Here are things that I have adapted into my night time routine.

Top 7 things that I am doing to get a good nights sleep:

  • Drinking Sleepy Time tea about an hour before bed ~or some nights a glass of wine 🙂
  •  Taking a hot bath
  •  Doing some yoga stretches  – click here for some great ones! 
  •  Not looking at social media in bed
  • Diffusing a sleep blend essential oil in my room
  • Journaling right before bed, there is something about writing anything on my mind right before bed that helps
  • Using this meditation app. I can not tell you how much this alone has helped!!! Simply Being App
Start each day in a positive light
  • Daily devotional-
  • Picking  a daily devotional is definitely a personal preference, but my favorite is called The Book of Awakening
  • Express Gratitude (click here on my full post on bringing gratitude to your life)
    • Use a gratitude journal (or just write down 3 specific things everyday that you are thankful for)
    • Tell people thank you
    • Acts of Kindness
    • Morning affirmations~ Try this one:
      • Today is a day of happiness and peace. I am grounded and centered. I am grateful for my beautiful life that is filled with many blessings. I move through my day with consciousness, grace, and love.
Find passion in your life~
  • Fill your life with beauty- what’s really cool about life is we get to chose what surrounds us. Our friends, what we read, watch listen to (those all impact how we feel), the groups we are involved in, etc. Find the ones that bring joy to your life.
  • Feed your creativity-
    • Get crafty, scrapbook, make jewelry, paint, take a how-to class, start a blog, take pictures, plant a garden- whatever feeds your creativity, do it!!! Pinterest is a great resource for finding ways to be creative.
  • Listen to podcasts on things you feel passionate about~ there are FREE podcasts about anything you could possibly want to know or learn more about

When what you do in your life supports your passion, that’s a win-win situation.

Be kind to your body~ 
  • Get moving every day
    • Take walk or a jog
    • Sign up for a run 5K, 1/2 Marathon, Tough Mudder, Crossfit Competition or Triathlon if you need that kind of motivation to stay on task
  • Eat Healthy-

Some of my favorite places to find great ideas for healthy eating PaleOMG, Against All Grain, Fed and Fit, Pinterest- search Whole 30 recipes, Healthy recipes, Clean eating, etc.
