April’s favorite things- how I am celebrating!

Back at the beginning of 2021, I created a word of the year. It was celebrate! A way to hold myself accountable for celebrating, each month I look at the top 5 ways that I celebrated life! Check out April’s favorite things!

April’s Favorite Things:

1. Creating our own workout program

One of the great things about fitness is you can change it up when you need to.

For a couple of years, I have been doing Beachboy workouts and I have loved doing them, but it was time for us to change it up. We have gone back to planning our own workouts, using a Crossfit style programing. On Sunday evenings, we plan out our workouts for the next week and are really enjoying it!

2. Bedtime schedule

My body has been telling me that I need more sleep for awhile, but I have been ignoring it. I like staying up late, but I also get up early. Anytime I ignore my body, it continues to remind me until you listen. So I am listening.

One of the changes that I made that has helped is so simple! I set an alarm on my phone and title it “Time to get ready for bed”. Also I have set boundaries about saying “no” to things that will make it hard for me to go to bed when I need to. There are many things I need to do to keep improving, but this has been a great start. I wrote a post on getting more sleep (I need to go back and read it myself!)

3. Celebrating our anniversary

We celebrated 3 years since our first date in April. It was a day off for both of us, and it was so fun to be able to go to our favorite spots and do our favorite things. We took the time to celebrate us.

4. Set Boundaries, Find Peace book

Each week I  meet with one of my bestests friends. We review our goals for the week and then talk about a book that we are reading. We just finished the book Untamed by Glennon Doyle, and have now started Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab. I love learning about ways to continue to grow and improve my life and my relationships. This book is a great guide to show how learning to set boundaries with yourself and others is the key to finding joy.

5. My new journal practice

I love to journal! You can read about how to get started journaling if you are new to it, or if you just need some new ideas.  Recently I started having multiple journals, this is how I am doing it.

1. Evening journal- using the acronym REAAL:

In the last 24 hours how did I…

Relax and Recharge today?

Enjoy my day?

Accomplish something today?

Appreciate today?

Learn today?

2. Holiday journal-

This is a place to journal what we do for each holiday during the year. I thought it would be really fun to be able to look back and have documented the ways that I celebrated Valentines Day, Easter, our Anniversary, Mother’s day, 4th of July, my birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years eve.

3. Prayers for my day- morning journal

In this journal I will pray for specific things in each day. These are things that I am worrying about and it gives me a place to give my worries to God.

4. Reflection- monthly journal

Reflect back on how the month went and how I was intentional with my word of the year.
