Do you have a word of the year? It is something I have been doing for 3 years now. I have been asked, how do I come up with my word of the year? I start thinking about it in December. As the year is ending, I evaluate what has happened and then I really think about what my focus is for the new year. I take into account what has been challenging or lacking in my life and look for what I want for the coming year.
In 2018 my word was Peace, see my post about it here
In 2019 my word was Joy see my post about it here
This year for 2020, my word is Intentional. The definition of intentional by Dictionary.com is:
~done with intention or on purpose; intended
So what does intention mean to me? It means that I understand that it is too easy to get caught up in being busy, being pulled from every direction, letting the tasks and to do’s take over. This year I am saying that everything that I do, I want to do with intention and purpose. Enjoying each moment. Making sure that I make time for the moments that are important.
It’s all great to have a word of the year, but how do you make it mean something, be a part of your life? That is where the vision board comes in!! Making a vision board helps me bring my word to life, and outline -in a fun and creative way- how I am going to make it happen!
How to make a vision board:
Step 1: Get your gals together!!! Why not make it into a girl’s night?
Step 2: Gather your supplies
Something to be the base of your vision board. I use this cork board that I found at Target years ago, I like this option because I just reuse it each year. A poster board or even a clipboard can be used also!
Linked below is a similar one on Amazon
Magazines, scrapbook paper & stickers!
Step 3: Assemble
Step 4: Find a place to display it
Everyone’s turns out a little different. That’s what makes this project so fun- you make it your own & be creative.
Have you done a vision board or have a word of the year? How do you stay on track with your goals? I would love to hear what your word of the year is!!
