How to organize weekly goals

Sunday is my day. It’s a day that I get to sleep in a little and feel more rested. This is also the day that I set my intentions for the coming week. Writing down goals is an important part about accomplishing them.  I can tell you this for sure,  because there was a time that I didn’t do this and I would get to the end of the week and just be frustrated. I would wonder why I didn’t get the things done that I wanted to. It took awhile of me feeling frustrated before I figured out how to organize weekly goals in a way that I would get them done.

There are 6 areas of life that I want to focus and make a priority: Personal, Relationships, Home, Learning, Financial and Wellness. So I came up with a printable that helped me align my goals and priorities. Once I started using this printable I was really able to dial in on what I wanted to get done. Separating my goals out by priority has really made a difference in reminding myself of the why behind the goal.

How to organize weekly goals- in 4 steps:

Step one: Write it all down

Fill out the printable in each category. Really think about what will be the most meaningful to accomplish. The point is to focus on the priorities in life and make sure to accomplish the things that are most important to you.

Over the weekend I meet with one of my good friends to review goals from the previous week and make plans for the next week. Having an accountability partner for my goals has really helped to keep me on track!

Step two: Do the prep work

The prep work can really make a difference. Just like planning a menu for the week, prep work for things you really want to accomplish makes them more likely to happen. For example: One of my goals is to workout 5 days a week. On Sundays I pick out 5 workout outfits and hang them in my closet. Having this prep work done is huge in my workouts happening.

Step three: Make it happen

This is the action piece! When you are planning out your day,  look at your goals for the week and add them into to your daily plan. If one of your goals is to get in 8,000 steps a day set an alarm in your phone to walk, check your step count.

Step four: Review and evaluate

Take time to evaluate how your week went. Did you accomplish all of your goals? If not what kept you from them. See if there are things that you can do differently. For example if you didn’t meet your goal to read 1 chapter a day from your book, make changes- like set an alarm at 9pm to remind you to read, bring your book with you to work to read on a lunch break, or while you are waiting in line or at an appointment.
