How to find time to read:
If you ask most people, you will hear about how busy life is. I want to show you how to find time to read, no matter how busy your life is. Just like anything, having a plan and making what is important to you a priority is the only way to make it happen! Adding a little creativity can be beneficial too!!
What we make a priority, is what happens in our life. Finding time to read can be tricky, it is easy for it to get low priority and have a million other things come up. Here are my top 5 ways to find more time to read.
- Read before bed, even if it’s only for 15 minutes
- Taking a book with you, and when waiting for something, pullout your book and read. ( ex. waiting for kids in the carpool line, waiting in line at the DMV, while in the waiting room at the doctor’ office)
- Join my book club group! Each month we read a book and discuss it at the end of the month. Having that motivation that other people are depending on you to finish the book helpful
- If you are traveling, make sure you bring a book or 2 with you
- Instead of getting on social media, reach for a book. Tracking how much time is spent on social media or our phones, can be pretty eye-opening. It’s a great way to find time to do things that you want to do but don’t think you have the time!
Where to get your books:
If you are looking for great ways to access books here are some options of some companies that I am an affiliate with. By clicking on the links, I get a small commission if you make a purchase, this is at no additional cost to you. Thank you for your support 🙂
- The Bookshop The Bookshop is an online book store that financially supports local book stores! If you go to my Bookshop link you can search in the top search bar for a specific book
- Audible Plus: If you like to listen to audio books Audible offers great options- You can try it for free for 30 days to see how you like it!
- Libby App: the Libby app allows you to check out a book from the library electronically that you can add to your nook or kindle electronic reader or as an audio book. You link it to your library card, there is sometimes a wait, just like if you were checking it out at the library. It automatically checks it back in on its due date- so no late fees!!
Some books I read recently:
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
Reading this book was hard- it is set in the middle of a concentration camp, and there is so many horrible things happening. But what this book shows is that hope is possible in even the worst situations, and love is always possible.
This book was refreshing and fun. The main character Susan has a personality that is hard to describe but is so enjoyable to read. She likes things orderly and controlled but soon learns that life doesn’t always work that way. I really loved this book!
The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin
Gretchen’s book evaluates personality types and looks at what motivates us and answers this question for ourselves- “How do I respond to expectations.” It also gives tips on how to make the best out of your tendency or dealing with someone who has a different tendency then you.
