Manifesting is intentionally creating what you want. It is not something that you just wish for and then it magically comes true. It is a way to name your goals and then make them come true by using the power of our thoughts and actions. In this post I want to show you how to manifest your vision and get what you want.
So, here are the 6 steps to get started Manifesting!!
- Clarify what you want to happen
- Write it down daily in present tense & imagine it happening
- Take action
- Be open and aware to opportunities that come up in your life
- Have a gratitude practice
- Reflect
How to manifest your vision and get what you want:
1.Clarify your vision
- Manifesting only works when you are clear about what you want
- Take some time to think about exactly what you want
- Maybe you are thinking that you just want your life to be better, or you want to be happier, explore what that means to you specifically
- Examples:
- I want to be healthy and energetic
- I want to have financial freedom
- I want to travel to lots of places this year
2.Write it down daily, in detail, in present tense. Say it out loud & imagine it happening
- Example: I am healthy and energetic
- Write it down
- Say it out loud
- Imagine it
- Close your eyes
- Imagine you being healthy and energetic
- Imagine yourself working out each of the 4 days
- Imagine yourself meal prepping and eating healthy foods
- Imagine yourself looking happy and healthy
- The same areas of your brain are activated when something happens as when you imagine something happening – our brains are powerful!!
- When we imagine positive things that we want to happen, it sends out positive energy and puts us in the right state of mind to receive positive things into our life- we have already created it in our mind
- Remember this works the opposite too – so if you are constantly imagining worst-case scenarios or negative things happenings, you have already created that in your mind and it sends out negative energy and puts us in the state of mind to receive negative things.
- Ask yourself which reality you want to create
- Imagine what you want to happen in great detail. For our example of “I am healthy and energetic,” imagine what you will look like when you are healthy and energetic. Who is around you? Where are you? What kinds of activities are you doing? What does your day-to-day life look like, etc?
3.Take action
- Make a diagram or list
- Write out your manifesting statement
- I am healthy and energetic
- Think about the actions needed to make it happen & write them down
- Example:
- I work out on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
- I meal plan & prep on Sunday
- Treat the action steps just like you would a meeting or commitment to someone else- put them in your calendar, make an alarm for them in your phone, etc.
- I sleep 7 hours a night, so I go to bed at 10pm
- Now put your action steps in your calendar and give them the same priority as you would a meeting or commitment to someone else
4.Be open and aware to new opportunities
- Using our example of “I am healthy and energetic”
- Do you have a friend who you could partner with to work out and meal prep? Ask her to join you!
- Is there a workout challenge at your job that started?
5.Have a gratitude practice
- Having a gratitude practice is a must in manifesting for your future self
- What we appreciate, appreciates
- Every evening before bed, write down 1-3 specific thing that you are grateful for that happened that day
6.Reflect
- Take time to ask yourself this question:
- What are some beliefs and thoughts that I have that may be holding me back?
- Example:
- I have never been able to workout consistently
- That thought will absolutely hold you back from working out consistently
- Replace it with:
- Working out is a priority to me
- I feel good when I work out
Manifesting is research based!
If you are still thinking that manifesting is just all rainbows and unicorns, hold up – it is backed by research.
Growth mindset:
Research by Dr. Carol Dweck shows that believing that you can do something makes it more likely that you will do it. Ultimately, the science suggests that our thoughts and beliefs bring the behaviors that lead to the outcomes we want.
Self-fulfilling prophecy:
Research shows that our expectations, (positive or negative), tend to be affirmed. This is what is known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. So, if we expect to reach our goals, we are more likely to do it and if we do not expect to reach our goals, we are more likely to not do it.
Negativity Bias:
Research shows that if are already negative, we are more likely to interpret neutral circumstances in a negative way and focus on the negative instead of the positive.
Upward positive spirals:
Dr. Barbara Fredrickson’s research has also shown that positive emotions allow us to think more creatively. Similarly, Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky has shown that happiness leads to success and not the other way around.
