My 5 favorite shows that I watched in 2020

There was something about 2020 that had us watching more tv. There was more time on our hands, we needed more distractions, there was a need for laughter, and a need for togetherness. Something about snuggling up on the couch to watch a good show brings comfort. Hearing other people’s favorites is so fun! So I want to share with you my 5 favorite shows that I watched in 2020. I hope that you will share your top 5 with me too!!

My 5 Favorite Shows that I Watched in 2020

1. Schitt’s Creek

This show is one of my favorite shows of all time. The acting is incredible and the growth seen in the characters is done in such a way that you can’t stop watching it. It is a comedy, but makes you cry at the same time. It makes you think deeply, but has a light-heartedness. When the show ends you truly miss the characters like they are your own family. We watched this on Netflix. It has easily become a show that we are re-watching for the pure joy of it.

2. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

Zoey has an unusual event happen while getting an MRI and after that she can hear people’s innermost thoughts and secrets all in a song & dance. It is hard to explain, but it works so well! It is cute and fun and emotional. It is a favorite for sure! The 2nd season just started January 2021. We have been watching on Hulu.

3. Grace and Frankie

First of all Lilly Tomlin who plays Frankie, is hilarious. Her and Grace- who is played by Jane Fonda, are this unlikely paired duo who turn into the best of friends and go through a lot along the way! It is a light-hearted show that tackles deep issues. There are 6 seasons of this show (with a 7th season coming out in late 2021- hopefully). So it is the perfect show to binge watch on Netflix!

4. The Handmaid’s Tale

When I was a senior in high school (in 1997), I took a Woman’s literature class- we read The Handmaid’s tale and I remember thinking how terrifying it was, and at the same time, I couldn’t put it down. It really had an impact on my 17 year old self. Well, fast forward to 2017, and I see that it is being made into a show on Hulu. I knew I had to watch it. After season 1, I checked out the book from my library and read it again. As a warning- this show is dark. But I think it is necessary to watch. It explores so many thoughts, ideas, the way we can just follow political parties blindly and what can happen if we do. There are currently 3 seasons, with a 4th on the way.

5. Emily in Paris

So… back to lightheaded!

This show is a comedy-drama about a young American woman who is sent to Paris through her job and the adventures that happen along the way. She learns a lot about culture, love and her pretty naive way of life. We watched this on Netflix and are excited for the next season to air!

Some oldies but goodies…

This is my go to list of shows that I previously finished before 2020, and I can just put on and enjoy at anytime:
