We knew we needed a getaway, but also wanted to do it in the safest way possible. Going to Colorado and enjoying the the amazing views, hiking and biking is what we decided on. Even during a pandemic, there are ways to still enjoy life.
10 things to do in Colorado during a pandemic:
-
Stay in an Airbnb- referral code for up to $65 off a booking
- We found an amazing place that was right on a lake in Dillon Colorado.
- Our stay here was 2 nights
- Each day we hiked around the lake- which was just steps out the door
- We also brought our bikes with us biked 14 miles- there was an amazing trail right out front of the Airbnb
-
Play a game
- The Airbnb was stocked with games, dvds, & a full kitchen
- We enjoyed Scrabble
- Cooked dinner in both nights
-
Have a local beer at Dillon Dam Brewery
-
Meditate
-
Take a cool hike
- There are a million hikes around the Dillon area
- We found one called Lily Pad Lake Trail
- It ended up being about 3.3 miles
- Hiking up to the lake, there were some steep areas and with the altitude it made it a really great hike. The views were amazing!
-
Stay in a Bed and Breakfast-
- The next 2 nights, we stayed at Mariposa Bed and Breakfast in Steamboat Springs. It was absolutely lovely and if you can make your way to Steamboat Springs- staying here is a must!
- There were so many little cozy touches everywhere we looked
-
Go to a Hot Springs
- we went to Strawberry Hot Springs
- It was beautiful and freezing
- To get to the hot springs there are some windy roads to take
- They only take cash or check (we forgot the cash we had brought and had to go back down the windy road to get it)
- 3 different pool areas that are different degrees of hot
- It was such a cool experience
- During this time they are taking reservations only (you do need to make these ahead of time online) and you get a 2 hour slot- we stayed 1 hour of that & it was plenty of time to enjoy!
-
Drink tea by the fire
-
Have a cinnamon roll at Winona’s in Steamboat Springs
-
Tour a farm
- We currently have an small urban homestead and are interested in getting more land one day. While we were driving home there was a farm called McCauley Family farm that we stopped and toured
- It was such a delight to meet Marcus and hear about how their regenerative whole-farm ecosystem is helping to nourish the people and planet.
- We left there with several goodies from the farm & lots of ideas we want to incorporate as our farm grows
Have you had any travel experience while in the pandemic? I would love to hear about where you have been! We found that there were plenty of ways to enjoy our trip- we packed hand sanitizer, wore masks everywhere, followed safe distancing and had a lovely time.
